NUR 727- 001 PMHNP Community Mental Health & Crisis Intervention Didactic
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Students explore various theories that guide interventions for community psychiatric mental health care. Students analyze mental health promotion, crisis intervention and the processes of trauma-informed treatment, care, recovery, transitions, professional collaboration and interprofessional practice.
Course Objectives
1. Demonstrate knowledge of complex systems and skill in collaboration with others.
Examine the role of the PMHNP in the transition of care for clients (children, adolescents, and adults) in the community
Explore the processes and importance of collaboration and partnering with patients and other healthcare professionals.

2. Integrate theories and knowledge into practice to provide evidence-based quality care that is ethical, culturally competent, safe, efficient and cost effective to individuals, families, groups, communities and organizations.
Compare and contrast various theories for mental health community practice.
Analyze theories and models of prevention, mental health promotion, and recovery.
Describe principles of group dynamics, including group process components, theoretical paradigms, group members' roles and behaviors, and therapeutic factors of group work
